Funny business
Started my new clown class, Advanced Clown Studies. It's a very serious name for a class that is designed to help you be a funnier clown. The goal of the class is to help us learn general funny business, magic, advanced balloons and some techniques for routines and skits. It's a small class - only four. Instructor Dude is teaching again.
I think it will be a fun class. I'm eager to learn some new clown stuff. My balloons could use some work, especially hats. Not good with hats. Not sure why - you'd think they would be easy. But alas - they are not.
Laughter is the best medicine
Went hospital clowning again and had a great time! All the patients were in really good moods, eager to laugh and very receptive. The nursing staff was in high spirits too. Sure makes clowning a lot easier when the audience is already warmed up.
The nose knows
I took a big step tonight. I ordered my clown nose. Up till now, I’ve been painting it on.
$15 for the nose, $7 for the adhesive and $40 for the adhesive dissolvent (just kidding about the dissolvent – you can use plain old baby oil).
Choosing a clown nose is not easy. You have to choose a nose (I would say pick a nose – but it’s too much of a cheap laugh) that not only fits your facial features, but also one that fits your clown’s character. And that is not easy especially when you are still trying to determine just exactly what kind of clown you want to be.
My inner clown
I like clowning and I like the clown character I've created. It is a great stress relief for me. My clown doesn't have to worry about bills or deadlines. She doesn't have to think about why the car is making a funny noise or keep track of a million different details between work and home. Housework? Forget it! Laundry? Nope. All she has to do is play and have fun and make other people smile. Everyone should find their inner clown!

Mine hops on stage with me for each and every gig. :-)
Lesson 1: Never pass up a cheap laugh...YOU'RE A CLOWN!!!!!
I'd be a very serious clown.
Quipper - Good for you! Never take yourself too seriously.
Kerner - You're right! But if I'm gonna go for a cheap laugh, then let's go all the way. I picked my clown nose. You think that's funny? It's SNOT!
Barb - Do I sense sarcasm? I think you'd be a very funny clown! :-)
I just saw that Meredith Veira was going to go clowning at a hospital on the Today show today (Monday). Hope you can check it out!
Hey GA! I don't have time in the morning to watch the Today Show. How was it?
I didn't see it either. We were watching for school closings and the promo came up...then out the door we went. Maybe You Tube might have it?
