That's what we were told at Kindergarten (yee-ha) Round-Up Thursday night. We're hoping to get darling daughter into all-day kindergarten and our neighborhood school only offers one all-day class. The slots are filled by a random drawing in May. I'm not a gambler by nature (was severely depressed once after losing $5.00 in a slot machine - never again) so I'm not really liking those 1 in 3 odds.

If she can't get into the all day class, there is a chance we can transfer to another school that also offers all-day classes (still close by and convenient for us) but again slots are filled by a random drawing. If school #2 doesn't work out, there is yet another possibility to try for school's #3 and #4 but they are farther away and not as convenient but it could be done - also decided by random drawing.

And that's just the first link in the chain. If we want in the after school program (which we do), then we need to put our names into, you guessed it - another random drawing, but we can't even get into the drawing until we know which school she is going to. We won't know that until May.

...sigh...
